Tinubu told us not to japa but what about the suffering?

President Bola Tinubu just used Democracy Day broadcast to tell young Nigerians to stay and build the country instead of japa-ing. He said, and I quote: "Every great nation was built by those who stayed to solve problems, not by those who abandoned ship."

Now I get the sentiment but bro, this is the same Nigeria where you graduate and spend 3 years looking for a job that pays 80k. Where electricity is still a dream in most places. Where your degree means nothing if you no get connection. The same young people he is talking to are the ones paying 70% of their salary on rent in Lagos or Abuja.

I am not saying japa is the answer for everybody but telling someone to stay when they see their mates in Canada sending money to build houses for their parents? That one na hard sell o. Which one you think — stay and suffer or leave and hustle?
