Saleh Mamman Arrested At 3:30am In Rigasa After 75-Year Sentence
5 months ago
EFCC just arrested convicted ex-power minister Saleh Mamman at 3:30 this morning in Rigasa, Kaduna. The man was hiding there with two associates after the court gave him 75 years for stealing N33.8 billion from Mambilla and Zungeru hydropower projects. Imagine thinking you can run from the eagle.
EFCC chairman Ola Olukoyede said at a press conference today that this arrest shows the government is serious about corruption. He said anyone who dipped into public funds will not go unpunished. But let's be real, how many of these big men actually see the inside of a cell for long? Mamman got sentenced in absentia and still thought he could disappear into Kaduna.
N33.8 billion from power projects that were supposed to light up this country. Meanwhile people in Kano and across the North are still using generators every day. The question is, how many more Saleh Mammans are still walking free and enjoying their loot?
