Senate just confirmed 65 ambassadors, Fani-Kayode and Reno Omokri made the list

The Senate confirmed 65 ambassadorial nominees today, and the list includes some names that will definitely spark debate. Femi Fani-Kayode, Reno Omokri, former INEC chairman Mahmood Yakubu, and even former governors Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and Okezie Ikpeazu are among those approved.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio said the nominees were found worthy based on character and experience, but petitions were submitted against some of them. The committee chairman Sani Bello said the allegations were not substantial enough to block their confirmation, though he did not name who the petitions targeted. Speculation is already pointing at Fani-Kayode and Omokri given their past controversies.

What is interesting is that some states have no representation on this list, and Akpabio promised another batch will come soon. But seeing a former vocal critic of Tinubu like Omokri now being confirmed as an ambassador, plus Fani-Kayode with all his baggage, makes you wonder what criteria they are really using.
