June 12 and insecurity: Toyin Amuzu says human lives have lost value in Nigeria

PDP chieftain Toyin Amuzu came out today on Democracy Day and said what many of us are thinking — human lives no longer have value in this country. He spoke about the killings, kidnappings, and violent attacks everywhere, and I honestly cannot argue with him. When a man is running for House of Reps in Abeokuta South and he is saying government is failing its primary duty of protecting lives and property, you know the situation is bad.

Amuzu also called out opposition politicians who keep defecting to the ruling party, whether by pressure or personal interest. He said it weakens democratic institutions and kills healthy competition. And he reminded us that democracy is not just about elections, it is about improving people's lives. He urged Nigerians to demand transparency and accountability from leaders.

So here we are celebrating June 12, remembering MKO Abiola's sacrifice, but insecurity is still eating us raw. Be honest, do you think Nigerians are actually ready to demand good governance or we will just keep complaining and voting the same people back?
