Bauchi PDP candidate says Bala Mohammed cannot handpick successor

Bauchi PDP governorship candidate Adamu Usman Ahmed has come out to say he will block Governor Bala Mohammed from handing power to a preferred successor. Ahmed spoke with journalists in Abuja and made it clear that the people of Bauchi will not accept any attempt to impose a new governor. According to him, no governor in the history of Bauchi State has ever successfully installed a successor.

Ahmed said, "The people of Bauchi are always wise. Looking at the history of the state, no governor has successfully installed a successor. That is why I believe the opposition has a strong chance of winning." He also noted that the political dynamics have changed because this time around there are about seven or eight parties contesting the election, not just the usual two. He said having many candidates in the race gives the opposition an advantage.

Governor Bala Mohammed recently left PDP for APM after internal party divisions, so this election is already looking messy. Ahmed promised to focus on job creation if elected, saying unemployment will be his top priority. But my question is, can he really pull this off against a sitting governor with all the resources? Bauchi people are watching closely o.
