Who really owns these 9 airtime lending companies?

So Tunde Ednut dropped that post about 9 new companies entering airtime lending market and everybody started celebrating like competition don finally come. But one X user @iammosesphilips asked the question we all should be asking — Who are the owners of the nine companies? And the silence from some quarters is deafening.

I went through the CAC records myself and saw things that will make you think twice. Rane Interactive Media's CLS Limited was incorporated August 30, 2025 — months before any approval timeline. Cloud Interactive Associates is registered as marketing solutions provider but presents itself as fintech and digital content platform. Total Tim Nigeria Limited is actually a subsidiary of Portugal-based TIMWE Group with foreign ownership. So these are not exactly fresh independent players coming to save us from monopoly.

The real question is whether these nine companies are genuinely independent or just different masks on the same face. With over 40 million Nigerians using airtime borrowing services and the sector generating serious value, we deserve to know who is behind these companies. Be honest — does transparency matter to you when choosing which service to use?
