Democracy Day gist: Okpebholo says democracy means nothing if we no fit sleep

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo don talk am today for June 12 Democracy Day. He say democracy means little to a family wey no fit sleep peacefully at night or community wey dey live under threat of criminals. I swear e get point o.

He talk say security, justice and protection of lives and property na essential dividends of democracy. But the thing wey catch me na when e say no democracy fit thrive where citizens dey live in fear. Na true talk. We dey celebrate June 12 but many Nigerians still dey wake up to kidnapping, cult violence, armed robbery every day. How we go take enjoy democracy when we no dey safe for our own house?

Okpebholo still call on all of us to remain vigilant and united. But I just dey wonder, after all the sacrifices of M.K.O. Abiola and others, how far we really don come? Abi na still the same struggle we dey fight?
