We don tire for this insecurity wey don become normal

Can I just talk about how we Nigerians don just accept insecurity as part of our daily routine? I was reading this report wey talk say within one year, Nigeria recorded over 4,700 abductions and nearly 1,000 kidnapping incidents, with ransom demands above ₦48 billion. And in 2025 alone, violent incidents led to more than 4,600 deaths and over 3,100 kidnappings nationwide. But nobody dey protest, nobody dey shout sef.

We don reach the point where people just adjust their travel times, close shops early, avoid certain roads after dark, and parents worry when children leave for school. The report say this normalisation is dangerous because we don become desensitised. Warning signs dey ignored, suspicious activity dey overlooked. I swear, if you tell somebody say you fear to travel night, dem go just say 'na so things be now.'

Am I the only one wey think say we need to wake up before this thing swallow us finish? Because if we no treat insecurity as emergency, government go continue to treat us like we don accept am.
