Fashola says he never collected security vote as Lagos governor

Babatunde Fashola just dropped a bombshell at a June 12 Democracy Day event today. The former Lagos governor said he did not receive any security vote during his eight years in office. He claimed all state funds were managed through the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, not given to him personally.

Now I am sitting here thinking about all the governors wey dey collect security vote every month and we still dey suffer insecurity everywhere. If Fashola could run Lagos without touching security vote, why other governors dey collect am like their personal ATM? Abi na only Lagos get proper accountability?

This man don set a standard wey many governors no go fit meet. The question we must ask ourselves is: who is really benefiting from these security votes if not the governors themselves?
