FAAN staff caught with 22kg gold in his trousers at Kano Airport
5 months ago
So EFCC just arrested a FAAN Aviation Security inspector named Ali Baffa at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport for allegedly hiding 22.2 kilograms of unprocessed gold bars inside his trousers. The gold is valued at over N4.4 billion. Imagine walking around with billions of naira worth of gold strapped to your body like it is normal luggage.
The commission also picked up Aushabu Nasidi who was supplying the gold and Mukhtar Muhammad Dan Zaria who admitted to smuggling about 40.2 kilograms of gold between 1 and 11 June 2026 using the same method. Nasidi had all kinds of foreign currencies on him — Saudi Riyals, Turkish Lira, Kuwaiti Dinars, Philippine Pesos, you name it. These people were running a full scale smuggling operation right under the airport's nose.
The question nobody is asking is how long has this been going on and who else inside FAAN is involved. Because a single AVSEC inspector does not move 40kg of gold in 11 days without a network backing him up.
