Cardoso Wins Central Bank Governor of the Year Award for Reforms

So Olayemi Cardoso just won Central Bank Governor of the Year at the African Banker Awards in Abidjan. The man wey Tinubu appoint for September 2023 to fix our economy. And honestly, the guy don try. When he came in, inflation was 33.88%, naira was crashing, and there was over $7 billion backlog of unpaid forex commitments. Na real wahala.

But Cardoso start to do things. He unify the exchange rate, clear that $7 billion backlog wey dey give airlines and foreign investors headache, and introduce willing-buyer willing-seller model for forex. The CBN even stop financing government deficits through Ways and Means, which had reached ₦22.7 trillion by 2023. That one alone na big victory.

Now, less than two years later, people dey recognize the work. But my question be: we common Nigerians don feel this change for our pocket? Abi na still the same wahala for market and fuel pump?
