CSOs storm Osogbo streets over insecurity on June 12
5 months ago
I just saw this story about civil society groups in Osun State using the 33rd anniversary of June 12 to call out the government on insecurity. These people, including the Osun Civil Societies Coalition and Take It Back Movement, marched through Ayetoro to Olaiya in Osogbo on Friday carrying placards and singing solidarity songs.
Kola Ibrahim, one of the activists, said the protest was because of "the increasing insecurity in the country and the need for authorities to address the situation." Meanwhile, we are here in Enugu and I can tell you nobody feels safe. Bandits, kidnappers, armed robbers everywhere and the government is busy playing politics.
June 12 is supposed to be about democracy and the will of the people but what is democracy when you cannot even walk to the market without fear? Abi wetin be your own take on this?
