MKO Abiola's sacrifice is being wasted and Adebayo is right

Prince Adewole Adebayo said something today that hit me hard. He said June 12 reminds us that the people are the true owners of power and that the annulment of that 1993 election was a betrayal of the Constitution and the sovereignty of Nigerians. The man is not lying.

I look at Nigeria right now and I wonder if MKO Abiola's death meant anything. We have a government that talks about democracy but the common man is suffering. Tinubu's own Democracy Day message was asking us not to lose faith but how can we when the system still feels like it belongs to the rich and powerful? Adebayo warned that as we approach another general election, every Nigerian has a role to play in enthroning true democracy. But are we even ready to play that role?

Be honest, do you really believe your vote will count in 2027? Or are we just going to repeat the same cycle of hope and disappointment?
