Democracy Day but our government is now a cabal — Atsar spoke facts
5 months ago
Terver Shirsha Atsar, a House of Reps hopeful for Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency, just dropped some heavy truth for Democracy Day. He said what we have now is a quasi-democracy where power sits with a few people. His exact words: "The government is gradually becoming one of a cabal, by a cabal, and for a cabal." Not government of the people anymore.
I have been thinking about this since I read it. The man is not wrong. Look at how disconnected our leaders are from the suffering in Enugu, in Kano, in Port Harcourt. They collect their salaries and allowances while we struggle with fuel prices and hospital bills. Atsar is asking us to wake up for 2027 and stop selling our votes for crumbs. He said the habit of collecting crumbs during elections and then wailing for four years must stop.
Some people will say he is just a politician campaigning early. But the truth in his words cuts deep. If we keep letting a cabal run this country, we will get the same results. Be honest, are you ready to defend your vote in 2027 or will you collect the usual crumbs again?
