Peter Obi's 2027 strategy is a blank page and his own people are walking away

Ikenna Azomchine, the coordinator of the Obidient Movement, has come out to say publicly what many of us have been whispering since 2023 — that Peter Obi has no clear plan for winning the 2027 election. Azomchine said on Trust TV that he asked Obi directly to explain how he intended to win and the man could not produce any strategic roadmap. This is not a betrayal of the movement. This is a man who has spent years organising and mobilising and is now asking the hard question: where are we actually going?

Azomchine even stated that his group would now work for President Tinubu's re-election. Let that sink in. The coordinator of the Obidient Movement is publicly endorsing Tinubu because Obi could not give him a single credible answer on electoral strategy. He said movements cannot survive on sheer sentiment alone without a practical path toward capturing executive power. That is the voice of someone who has been in the trenches and knows that passion without planning is just noise.

I respect Azomchine for this. He is not joining the loud criticism that Kenneth Okonkwo engages in. He is simply saying: show me the plan or I will find another vehicle. And he is right. Nigerian opposition politics has been stuck on slogans and social media hashtags for too long. If Obi cannot tell his own strategist how he plans to win, what exactly are millions of followers expected to do in 2027? Be honest — would you follow a leader who cannot answer the question "how will we win?"
