New INEC Chairman Sworn In — Anambra Election Is The Test

President Tinubu just swore in Prof Joash Ojo Amupitan as the new INEC chairman today at the State House in Abuja. The man is a SAN, 58 years old, and he is taking over from Mahmood Yakubu who held the position from 2015 to 2025.

Tinubu told him straight that the November 8 governorship election in Anambra will be the litmus test for his leadership. He said, "Your nomination and the subsequent confirmation by the Senate are a testament to your capacity and the confidence reposed in you by both the executive and the legislative arms of government." The President also charged him to protect the integrity of the electoral process.
