Peter Obi says Nigerians like rigging because of night vigils

Peter Obi has dropped another controversial one o. The NDC presidential candidate told Nigerians in Washington that elections get rigged because we allow it. He said we prefer to go to church night vigil after voting instead of staying back to protect our votes. The man is not mincing words at all.

Obi said verbatim, 'Elections are rigged in Nigeria because Nigerians want it to be rigged.' He challenged us to stay at the polling unit after casting our ballot and insist our votes count. But according to him, some people will vote, go home, then head to night vigil hours later to pray, thinking they are the only ones God created. He said the real problem of Nigeria is leadership, that God gave us everything else.

I get his frustration but this one is a hard pill to swallow. Is it really our fault when INEC officials disappear with result sheets and thugs snatch ballot boxes at gunpoint? Abeg, how many of us can stay at polling unit from 8am to 8pm without food or water, especially in this economy? The man has a point about protecting our votes but he is blaming the victim too much. What do you think, is Peter Obi right or is he just tired of Nigerian voters?
