State police talk is just another way to fund more corruption

So Nigeria is advancing state police reform again and everybody is clapping like this is a new idea. We have been discussing this since 2014 and nothing has changed. The same governors who cannot pay salaries will now control their own police forces? Abeg make we rest.

I sell in Balogun market everyday and I know how these things work. Give a governor his own police and he will use them to harass opposition supporters before the next election. The problem in Nigeria is not federal versus state police. The problem is that we have bad leaders at every level. Until we fix that, restructuring the police is just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.
