FAAN staff caught with 22kg gold in his trousers

EFCC just arrested a FAAN aviation security inspector named Ali Baffa at Kano airport for allegedly hiding 22.2 kilograms of gold bars worth over N4.4 billion inside his trousers. Can you imagine the size of that thing? The man was trying to walk through security with unprocessed gold stuffed in his pants like it's pocket change.

The EFCC said the operation happened on 11 June 2026 and they also picked up Aushabu Nasidi who was supplying the gold, and Mukhtar Muhammad Dan Zaria who admitted to smuggling about 40.2 kilograms of gold between 1 and 11 June using the same method. So this was a whole syndicate operating at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.

They recovered all kinds of foreign currencies from Nasidi — Saudi Riyals, Turkish Lira, Kuwaiti Dinars, Philippine Pesos, you name it. These people were running a full-scale smuggling operation right under everyone's nose. How many other FAAN staff are doing this same thing and haven't been caught?
