Rema went from Benin City street to opening FIFA World Cup, this boy is unstoppable now

Rema just got announced as one of the performers at the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony at SoFi Stadium on June 12, and I am screaming. From a teenager in Benin City posting covers on Instagram to being the first Nigerian male artist (aside from the Big 3) on the World Cup album, this is massive.

The way "Calm Down" remix with Selena Gomez literally opened every door for him, billions of streams, Billboard top 3, and then he went and pioneered his own sound called Afrorave blending Edo language with Bollywood melodies. He became the first Afrobeats artist to sell out arena tours in India, like who else is doing that?

So now he is not just performing at the World Cup, he is also one of four Nigerian artists on the official World Cup album. From pitting him against Joeboy and Fireboy to this level, which artist do you think is next to reach this height?
