Super Eagles stay 26th in FIFA rankings — but that friendly loss stings

Super Eagles have maintained their 26th spot in the latest FIFA rankings released today, but the mixed results from their recent friendlies show we still have work to do. Eric Chelle's boys beat Zimbabwe 2-0 and thrashed Jamaica 3-0 at the Unity Cup in London, which was sweet, but then they drew 2-2 with Poland and lost 2-1 to Portugal on Wednesday night.

We remain third in Africa behind Morocco and Senegal, with Algeria and Egypt completing the top five. The top five globally stay unchanged with Argentina leading, then Spain, France, England, and Portugal.

It is good we didn't drop, but that loss to Portugal shows the gap between us and the top teams. When will we consistently beat these European sides?
