Radda tells bandits to come out and collect houses. Na wa o.

Katsina Governor Dikko Umaru Radda just handed over 152 houses to displaced persons in Jibia today and then turned around and told the bandits themselves to come and collect the same houses if they drop their weapons. He said verbatim, "Lay down your arms, come back to your families, come back to your communities. The same houses, the same grants, the same opportunities being delivered here today can be yours tomorrow."

I get the strategy sha. You want peace, you offer carrot instead of stick. But abeg, imagine you dey inside your new house wey government give you after bandits chased you from your village, and the same bandit wey burn your shop dey next door collecting the same grant. How you go feel? The UNDP and Radda mean well but this dialogue approach with people who have killed and kidnapped for years is a hard sell for the victims.

Am I the only one that thinks this will backfire big time?
