Finima monarch calls out Tinubu and NLNG over abandoned resettlement

The Amadabo of Finima, HRH Aseme Alabo Dagogo Lambert Brown, Kongo XVII, has directly called on President Bola Tinubu to set up a special task force to address the abandoned resettlement issues linked to the NLNG project in Bonny, Rivers State. This man is not mincing words — he says the community has been neglected despite providing the land where NLNG facilities and the Train 7 workers' camp sit.

He even reminded everyone that June 10 is now a permanent memorial for Finima people because of the 2021 attack on residents during a protest over alleged neglect by NLNG. The monarch listed waste management, rehabilitation of displaced persons, cottage industries, and power supply as outstanding commitments. A court has already ruled in their favour over lease disputes, but NLNG has not opened dialogue.

So here we have an oil giant making billions from land provided by Finima, while the original landowners suffer. Where is the oversight from the government that approved this project?
