EndBadGovernance calls 48-hour strike over insecurity
5 months ago
The #EndBadGovernance Movement and civil society groups just called for a 48-hour nationwide strike over rising insecurity and kidnapping. They made this demand at a press briefing in Abuja ahead of June 12 Democracy Day. The coalition, led by Comrade Michael Adaramoye, said government has failed to protect citizens and wants urgent action to free abducted schoolchildren and teachers.
They are also demanding a public probe into security votes at federal and state levels. They want community-based security committees across local government areas. The group is urging labour unions to join the strike, saying economic hardship and unemployment are driving insecurity.
So security votes that run into billions yearly with zero accountability. Kidnappings everywhere. Yet nobody is answering for the money. When will these governors be forced to account for what they spend on security?
