June 12 is just a holiday for politicians to lie to us
5 months ago
So ADC chairman Bolaji Abdullahi came out yesterday saying June 12 is Nigeria's foremost democratic milestone and all that. I agree with him that the date matters but let's be real here — every Democracy Day, these same politicians gather in Abuja to clap for themselves while we can't afford garri in Enugu.
Abdullahi himself admitted that rising costs of food, transportation, healthcare, housing and education are putting pressure on households. He said our young people should be driving national growth but many are struggling to find opportunities. So if the party that is supposed to be the alternative is already telling us the problems we already know, what is the solution? They said government must be judged by results not speeches but I have not seen ADC do anything different from PDP or APC when they get power.
Be honest — do you actually feel like June 12 means anything to your life right now or is it just another public holiday to sleep?
