Tinubu reforms made big companies richer while we suffer
5 months ago
See wetin I just read. An analysis of 27 companies on NGX shows their operating cash flow rose to N6.6 trillion in Q1 2026, a 247% increase from Q1 2023 before the reforms. Meanwhile petrol price went from N264 to N1,288 and naira dropped from N460 to N1,500 per dollar. Muda Yusuf from CPPE said the reforms caused inflationary shock, declining real incomes, and a cost-of-living crisis.
So while Dangote Cement, MTN, Zenith Bank, and others are swimming in cash, we dey struggle to buy garri. The companies are paying dividends and expanding, but households are squeezed. Yusuf even said the benefits haven't translated to welfare gains for ordinary people.
Be honest, does this mean the reforms worked only for the rich? Or is this just the price we have to pay for long-term stability?
