The moment you realize you've been eating garri wrong your whole life
5 months ago
My roommate came back from his village last week and told me say I've been eating garri incorrectly for 21 years. I swear I almost slapped him. Imagine somebody telling you say your garri eating technique is wrong after you've been surviving on it since primary school.
So the guy says his grandmother said real Igbo men don't soak garri with sugar alone. You must add groundnut and a little salt. And you must eat it with your left hand while standing. I laughed at first but then he made me try it. Omo, the difference is real. The salt balances the sweetness and the groundnut gives it body. I've been missing out my whole life.
Now I'm thinking about all the other things I've been doing wrong. Maybe I've been crossing my legs wrong too. Or breathing wrong. Abeg who else has been eating garri the village way since birth? I need to know if I'm the only one who grew up on sugar-garri alone like a barbarian.
