N10 Billion Fraud Attempt on Fidelity Bank β Three Men Arraigned
5 months ago
EFCC just arraigned three men Ibeh Emmanuel, Chidiebere Ihekoronye and Akubuo Chimuanya at the Lagos High Court in Ikeja for allegedly trying to steal N10 billion from Fidelity Bank. They used forged documents and false claims to try and get the money transferred to an account at Wema Bank. The fourth suspect Austen Peaks Aniekan is still on the run.
These guys allegedly pretended that Maton Engineering Limited had issued an irrevocable order to block N10 billion in favour of Prospera Finance Limited. They even had a forged document titled βConfirmation of Ten Billion Naira Blocked Funds in Favour of Prospera Finance Limitedβ supposedly from Fidelity Bank. The EFCC said the whole thing was false and they knew it.
This is the kind of thing that makes our banking system look shaky. Imagine if they had succeeded. How many people are out there right now trying similar nonsense with our money?
