⭐PrivateThe night my daughter asked me if God eats garri

So last year, I was putting my 8-year-old daughter Chioma to bed, and we were doing our usual prayer routine. She folded her hands, closed her eyes tight, and prayed 'God bless Mummy, God bless Daddy, God bless my teachers, and please make sure the generator wakes up tomorrow morning.' I was still smiling when she opened her eyes and looked at me with that serious face she makes when she's about to drop a deep question.
She said 'Daddy, if God made everything, who made God?' I paused. I have a degree in Sociology and I have counseled people through faith crises, but this 8-year-old just hit me with the question that has kept theologians arguing for centuries. Before I could form a proper answer, she added 'And does God eat garri? Because if He made the cassava, He should at least taste it.'
I just started laughing. My wife came in from the bathroom wondering what was happening. Chioma looked confused, like 'why is everybody laughing, this is serious.' The thing about life is, children have a way of making profound things simple. We adults complicate everything. That night I realized that faith doesn't need to be complicated. Sometimes it's just trusting that the One who made the cassava knows what He's doing with the garri.
