Nigerian youth, what's that one thing you've stopped dreaming about?
I was at the court canteen yesterday and the younger clerks were gisting about their plans. One guy said he just wants a job that pays enough for him to not think about money every single day. Another one said she has given up on owning a house in Lagos before age 40. I just sat there listening and thinking, chai.
When I was their age in the late 90s, my dream was to own a duplex in Ikeja GRA and drive a Mercedes. I didn't achieve all of it, but I got close enough. But these ones... the way they talk, it's like they have already reduced their expectations to just survival. No big dreams of building something, just managing the month.
So I want to ask you young people on this platform. What is that one dream you have quietly killed because of how things are right now? And be honest, is it the money, the system, or just the way you see older people like me struggling too? I dey wait to hear wetin you go talk.
