Adaeze Udechukwu is overrated and I am ready to argue

I have been sitting on this for weeks and I need to say it. Adaeze Udechukwu is not the actress our people pretend she is. Everyone calls her the queen of Nollywood but when you actually watch her films, she plays the same character in every movie. The village girl who cries. The suffering mother. The woman betrayed by her husband. It is always the same face, the same tears, the same voice.

Look at someone like Chidi Mokeme or Nse Ikpe Etim. Those ones transform. You watch them in one film and you forget they were in another. But Adaeze? I watched her in two different films back to back last week and I could not tell which scene was from which movie. The thing about life is that we celebrate consistency when we should be celebrating range. Our people say a child who washes his hands will eat with the elders, but there is a difference between washing your hands and just showing up with wet hands every time.

I know some of you will say I am hating. Ndo. But I am speaking as someone who genuinely loves Nollywood and wants better. If she releases a new film next month and actually plays a role that surprises me, I will be the first to clap. But until then, I am not convinced. So tell me, who is actually the most talented actor in Nollywood right now? Because I need names.
