Kwankwaso and Peter Obi met in Abuja — is 2027 alliance finally happening?

Former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has confirmed that he hosted Peter Obi at his Abuja residence on Friday. In a post on his X handle on Saturday, Kwankwaso said they had frank and productive discussions on key partisan and national issues. He described Obi as his brother and partner, and welcomed him back from what he called a highly productive international trip.

Kwankwaso wrote, "Our party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), remains united. As leaders, we must continue to demonstrate maturity by making the necessary sacrifices and tolerating our differences in pursuit of our shared goal. We are resolute in this mission, and together, we shall ensure that Nigeria is OK." This is the clearest signal yet that the NDC leadership is actively working on consolidating ahead of 2027.

What I find interesting is the timing — right after Obi's international trip, and with Amaechi reportedly agreeing to become Atiku's running mate in another camp. The opposition is clearly scrambling to build a united front against the ruling party. My question is simple: can these egos actually coexist in one party long enough to win an election, or will the usual Nigerian political drama tear them apart before 2027?
