Ndigbo will never move on from £20 compensation — lawyer says

Lawyer to Nnamdi Kanu, Aloy Ejimakor, posted on X yesterday that Ndigbo will never move on from the humiliation of the post-civil war £20 compensation policy. He said, and I quote: "It seems to me that some people believe that Ndigbo have moved on from the humiliation & injustice of confiscating their properties & handing them a mere £20 at the end of the Civil War. Well, hear this: Ndigbo will NEVER move on until these injustices (plus more) are redressed."

This is the kind of thing that people outside the South-East don't fully grasp. Imagine your family had millions in the bank before the war and after everything you get £20 flat. No matter how much you had before. That is not compensation, that is an insult. And Ejimakor is right to say it cannot be forgotten just because decades have passed.

But here is the question nobody wants to answer honestly — what would actual redress even look like at this point? Cash payments? Land returns? A formal apology from the government? Be honest, do you think any Nigerian government today has the will to reopen that chapter?
