Kemi Badenoch is right about Nigeria's electricity problem
5 months ago
Kemi Badenoch said yesterday that Nigeria is an oil-producing country that has never had electricity. She blamed weak government policies for this situation. I know her comments will upset many Nigerians but she is not wrong.
I grew up in Kaduna and my parents still live there. They have not seen stable light in over 20 years. We produce oil but we cannot power our own homes. That is not bad luck. That is decades of poor leadership and bad policy decisions. Badenoch's point about excessive government control and wealth redistribution slowing down growth is something we should actually think about instead of just attacking her for saying it.
So let me ask you something. If a British politician says what every Nigerian already knows in their heart, why do we get angry at her instead of asking why nothing ever changes?
