Akpabio says Tinubu's enemies are sponsoring insecurity

Senate President Godswill Akpabio was in Abuja yesterday for Abdulsalami Abubakar's 84th birthday book launch and he dropped something that got me thinking. He said the worsening insecurity we are seeing across the country is being sponsored by enemies of President Bola Tinubu who do not want Nigeria's democracy to succeed.

Akpabio said, and I quote: "I must say that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is grappling with a lot of enemies of progress... Today, many are sponsoring insecurity in our country, to paint our democracy in a bad colour." He went on to say the government will defeat both terrorism and poverty. Meanwhile, Amnesty International reported that over 10,000 people were killed in attacks during Tinubu's first two years in office, and SBM Intelligence documented 4,722 abductions between July 2024 and June 2025 with families paying N2.57 billion in ransom. So who exactly are these enemies, and why does the explanation always point outside instead of inward?
