Tinubu turns Aso Rock into military zone just to stop Sowore protest

So on Thursday June 4, 2026, the Tinubu government deployed armed soldiers, police, DSS, NSCDC, vigilante group, and even immigration officers around the Presidential Villa in Abuja. All because Omoyele Sowore and the Take It Back Movement called for a peaceful mass protest to demand the release of abducted schoolchildren and teachers still held by terrorists in Oyo, Borno, and other parts of Nigeria.

They blocked roads leading to the Federal Secretariat, National Assembly, and Supreme Court, causing massive traffic and stranding commuters. Security personnel mounted checkpoints and barricades, stopping workers from accessing their offices. As of the time reports came in, no protest activity had even started yet. The security was just there waiting.

Now ask yourself: if the government has this much manpower and coordination to block citizens from assembling peacefully, why can't they deploy that same energy to rescue the kidnapped children? Sowore and the organisers said President Tinubu should either secure the captives' return or resign for failing his primary duty of protecting lives. The question is simple — whose side is the heavy security really protecting?
