Terrorists attacked a Kogi school, vice principal killed

So on Wednesday June 10, terrorists on about 40 motorcycles invaded Government Secondary School in Iluke Bunu, Kabba/Bunu LGA of Kogi State. The police said they were trying to kidnap students and community members but security forces engaged them in a gun battle and repelled the attack.

Sadly, the police confirmed three people were killed — the Vice Principal of UBE Secondary/Primary School, Iluke, Mr Ganiyu Anifowose, 70-year-old Mr Sunday Jacob Alhassan, and 6-year-old Sunday Ayele. One of the bandits was also killed and a security operative is receiving treatment for gunshot injuries.

The police spokesperson ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat said there is no evidence of a mass abduction but investigations are ongoing. The Commissioner of Police has ordered bush-combing operations to track down the fleeing suspects. This kind of thing is just too close to home. How do we protect our children when schools are being targeted like this?
