Former Plateau Governor Senator Jonah David Jang has kicked against the Appeal Court ruling that says Hausa people born and raised in Jos North LGA are indigenes. He released a statement on Saturday saying this ruling has serious implications for the state's identity and cultural heritage. The case was filed by Fatima Baba Akawu and Baba Alhaji Akawu after they were denied indigene certificates.

I get where Jang is coming from but this indigene vs settler talk has caused too much blood in Plateau already. The court said if you are born there and your father is a bonafide indigene you deserve the certificate regardless of your Hausa ethnic origin. That sounds fair to me. We cannot keep treating people like strangers in the place they were born just because of tribe.

Be honest. If I born my pikin for Jos and the child never live anywhere else, how e no be indigene? This certificate wahala is why Nigeria cannot move forward.
