My mechanic just showed me something that will change how you buy tokunbo cars
5 months ago
So I took a 2015 Toyota Camry to my guy for routine check before I list am for sale. He opens the engine and starts laughing. I say wetin happen? He points at the chassis number and shows me where someone welded a plate over the original vin. This car was stolen from Cotonou, shipped to Ghana, then brought back to Nigeria with a new identity. I almost resold am to a pastor.
See my brother, the tokunbo game is sweet but e get levels. I lost 1.2 million naira on that deal because I trusted a contact in Cotonou I had used for two years. The lesson? Even your regular supplier can turn on you when the margin is tight. Now I run every single car through my mechanic before I pay full deposit. No more handshake agreements for vehicles above 3 million.
Who else has bought a tokunbo car that turned out to be something else entirely? I need to know if I'm the only one village people don tire to pursue.
