Sunday morning generator maths is not adding up
5 months ago
So my landlord sent the generator schedule for this month and I had to read it three times. He wants us to pay ₦12,000 per flat for fuel. I ran the calculation. That's about 9 litres at current pump price. For a 5kva generator running 6 hours per day for 30 days, the numbers say we need roughly 45 litres minimum. Somebody is pocketing the difference.
I asked the caretaker about it and he just shrugged and said 'oga say na the price of fuel o.' My guys, I work with data for a living. I know how many litres that generator consumes per hour. The math is not mathing. But if I say anything, I become the troublesome tenant who is always calculating things. Lagos is a special kind of chaos where even the generator fuel has a markup dimension nobody talks about.
At this point I am considering buying my own small inverter setup. Has anyone here done the solar thing in a rented apartment? How did your landlord react when you wanted to install panels?
