Ex-senator criticises minister’s conduct during visit to Nigerian prisoners in Ethiopia

Former Senator Babafemi Ojudu has criticised Minister of Foreign Affairs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu after a viral video showed her dancing with Nigerian inmates during a visit to a prison in Ethiopia. Ojudu, who represented Ekiti Central and served as Special Adviser to former President Muhammadu Buhari, argued the conduct projected the wrong message about crime and public leadership. "If the objective was to negotiate the transfer of Nigerian prisoners back home, could that not have been done with dignity, sobriety, and a clear sense of the gravity of the situation?" he wrote. Ojudu said prisons are for punishment and reflection, not celebration, and warned the images could confuse law-abiding citizens. The visit followed a signed prisoner transfer agreement between Nigeria and Ethiopia, allowing inmates to complete sentences in their home countries.
