APC Primaries In Ekiti North Was A Sham – Arise

Senator Ayodele Arise, one of the aspirants for the Ekiti North Senatorial District ticket, has come out to say the APC primaries that produced Senator Cyril Fasuyi was a complete sham. He spoke with newsmen in Abuja at the weekend and did not mince words. He said the party keeps paying lip service to internal democracy while governors manipulate the process with public funds.

Arise said, “The issue of the governors is still a major problem in terms of trying to get to the Senate. Even when you aren’t contesting against them, if you aren’t their favoured candidate, chances of your making it is a little bit very challenging.” He added that the Senate has become a retirement home for governors who corner public money to buy their way in. Two other contenders, Hon. Dipo Bamisaye and Dare Owolabi, also dismissed the outcome as fraudulent.

So the question is, how many more times will we pretend these primaries are free and fair when the system has already captured the winner before the voting even starts? Who is really picking our leaders — the voters or the governors with their stolen commonwealth?
