Major-General Rabe killed in kidnappers' custody — this is a national shame
5 months ago
So this just broke my heart this morning. Major-General Abubakar Rabe (rtd) died in kidnappers' custody after spending weeks with them. The National Coalition Against Mass Killings, Extra-Judicial Killings, Mob Actions and Impunity (NCAMKI) is calling for the arrest and prosecution of everyone involved. They said his death is a national loss that forces every Nigerian to ask who is safe if a senior military officer can be abducted and killed.
HURIWA also weighed in, saying the gruesome killing is a direct assault on the authority and integrity of the Nigerian State. Their National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, noted that if terrorists can abduct and kill a retired General with such audacity, ordinary citizens are even more vulnerable. HURIWA is now calling on the National Assembly to amend the Terrorism Act and make terrorism, mass kidnapping, and financing capital offences punishable by death.
And barely hours after this news, armed bandits invaded farmlands in Goron Namaye, Maradun Local Council, Zamfara State and slaughtered 17 farmers, leaving 13 others injured. This is just too much. At what point do we say enough is enough?
