Another Chibok attack, one dead and school block burnt
5 months ago
Boko Haram struck again in Chibok on Saturday evening, this time in Kautikari community about 20km from Chibok town. They killed a 50-year-old resident and set fire to a junior secondary school block — five classrooms and an office gone.
Police spokesperson Nahum Daso confirmed it, saying security operatives repelled the attackers after the assault. The Education Secretary for Chibok LGA, Malah Kyari, also confirmed the school block was burnt. The attackers came on motorcycles.
This is happening as farming season just started and barely a month after pupils were abducted from two schools in Askira-Uba LGA. Teachers in Borno have been protesting, asking for better security. When will our children be safe to go to school?
