Military launches Operation Clean Sweep III after General Abubakar's death

Breaking news from Katsina State. The Defence Headquarters Joint Task Force North West has launched a fresh major offensive called 'Operation Clean Sweep III' across Matazu LGA and neighbouring communities. This is in direct response to the abduction and death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar.

Lt-Col. Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer, confirmed the operation kicked off on Saturday June 14, 2026. Troops are already conducting intensive patrols, raids, and clearance exercises in criminal hideouts. The statement said significant gains have been recorded around Dikkawa Hills, Adua, Nasarawa, and Karaduwa areas where several terrorist camps and logistics hubs were destroyed.

This one is personal for the military. When bandits can snatch a retired General from his community and kill him in captivity, it shows how deep this security crisis has gone. Let us hope this operation brings some real change for people in those areas.
