The Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, said gunmen invaded his palace and shot his aides because he endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke's re-election. He said this at an event organized by Ajegunle traders and artisans. If this is true, it means political violence in Osun has reached a new low.

Now APC leaders in Osogbo are calling for an investigation, questioning whether the incident was even reported to police. Former Deputy Speaker Akintunde Adegboye asked why Governor Adeleke linked the attack to opposition before any investigation was done. The APC statement signed by Kola Olabisi also demanded to know the identities of the injured aides and where they were treated.

So the question is: did the Ataoja actually file a police report, or is this a political endorsement speech dressed up as an assassination claim? Because the silence from security agencies is deafening.
