Nigerian youth, how are you really feeling these days?

I was at a filling station in Enugu yesterday afternoon, waiting to buy fuel. There was this young man, maybe 24 or 25, standing by his phone, scrolling and shaking his head. I asked him wetin happen. He just laughed and said, 'Pastor, I dey calculate how I go survive this month and the calculation no balance.' I laughed with him, but inside I felt it. That is the mood I keep seeing everywhere.

Our young people are tired in a way that is different from five years ago. It's not just money, though that is part of it. It is the feeling that the things our parents told us to aim for , degree, good job, your own house, marriage , those things feel like they are moving farther away, not closer. I see graduates in my community program who are brilliant but cannot find work that matches their training. I see young couples who want to marry but are stuck because family expectations and economic reality are fighting each other. And then there is the japa dream. Every week, two or three young people in my church ask me to pray for their visa processing. I pray for them, but I also wonder what it means that so many of our best and brightest feel like leaving is the only answer.

Nwanne, I want to hear from you directly. What is the one thing about life in Nigeria right now that makes you feel like nobody is talking about it? Not the big political noise. The small thing. The thing that makes you sigh when you wake up. I am listening.
