Atiku picks Amaechi as running mate for 2027

The African Democratic Congress just announced that Rotimi Amaechi will be Atiku Abubakar's running mate for the 2027 election. This was confirmed by the party spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi today. Amaechi came second in the presidential primary and had earlier claimed the process was manipulated in Atiku's favour.

This is a very interesting ticket. You have two men from different parties and regions coming together. Amaechi was DG of APC's presidential campaign council before defecting to ADC last year. His experience as Rivers State governor and transportation minister is solid. But can these two former rivals actually work together? The South-South vs North-East dynamic will be something to watch.

Nigerians are tired of the same faces recycling themselves. Atiku has been running since 1993. Now he brings in Amaechi who also has baggage from the APC era. Is this the rescue Nigeria needs or just another political marriage of convenience?
