EFCC arraign Blessing CEO sake of stage 4 cancer claim and donations

The EFCC has arraigned influencer Blessing Okoro, known as Blessing CEO, on a six-count charge of obtaining 13 million naira by false pretence. She appeared before Justice Yelim Bogoro at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday, 10 June, following petitions from individuals and the Nigeria Cancer Society.

"The petitioners allegedly made donations to the defendant after her social media posts claimed she was battling stage 4 breast cancer and sought financial support for treatment," the EFCC stated. The agency added that she was later discovered to have allegedly falsified documents presented to the public. This arraignment came a day after the EFCC charged Blessing CEO over an alleged 69,150,000 naira fraud. In a previous interview, she blamed the cancer claim on a miscommunication, saying, "Initially they said it wasn't cancerous, after a few months when I wanted to remove the lump, they said it was cancerous."
