Hisbah To Conduct Mass Marriage As Kano Budgets N1.5 Billion

The Kano State Hisbah Board has allocated N1.5 billion to conduct a mass wedding for 1,500 couples, with preparations underway, Commander General Aminu Daurawa announced yesterday in Kano. Each couple will receive N1 million for furniture, food items, and empowerment , N100,000 for the bride’s small business and N100,000 for the groom’s dowry.

“Mass Wedding is one of the promises made to the people of Kano State by His Excellency Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf which he has now fulfilled,” Daurawa said. The initiative aims to reduce social vices and assist indigent couples. Daurawa also warned against divorce without Hisbah involvement and urged couples to confirm their genotype before marriage to prevent sickle cell disease.
